Kylian Mbappé is already thriving in the blue of Paris Saint-Germain, yet he could have easily been scoring goals in the blue of Chelsea instead.
The 19-year-old revealed to FourFourTwo that he once had a weeks’ trial at Chelsea, where he featured in a solitary game for the club against Charlton Athletic.
Mbappé says he earned valuable experience from his time in west London and that it helped him earn a greater understanding of foreign football.
“I was still young back then, maybe 10 or 11. I went to London and spent just under a week over there,” he explained.
“I trained at Chelsea and we played a friendly match against Charlton Athletic.
“We won 6-0 or 7-0. I played upfront, but I don’t think I scored. It was great – it was my first experience abroad and a chance for me to see what the game was like in England.”
Many were surprised about his move to PSG last summer, but the teenager has had no trouble adjusting to life at the Parc de Princes, scoring 16 goals in his opening 31 games this season.
