Manchester City’s Kyle Walker has received his first formal proposal over his next club beyond the Etihad Stadium this summer, according to new reports.
The England international has returned to the club following a six-month loan agreement with AC Milan, finalised and sanctioned during the January transfer window after the player himself signalled an intention to leave Pep Guardiola’s side.
The move for Walker came at a point in the season where Manchester City were struggling across competitions, and a desire for a fresh challenge was motivated by both sporting and personal reasons for the player.
However, after a largely disappointing spell with the Italian giants, Milan rejected the opportunity to turn their temporary deal with Walker into a permanent stay via a purchase option understood to be worth around €5 million.
As such, having been left out of Manchester City’s squad at the FIFA Club World Cup, Kyle Walker is looking for a new opportunity in the game ahead of the 2025/26 season, with proposals expected from various corners of the globe this summer.
According to the latest information of Turkish sports reporter Yağız Sabuncuoğlu, Fenerbahçe have now made an official offer for Manchester City’s long-standing right-back over a potential move to the club this summer.
It is further claimed that from the side of Walker, the player wants a minimum two-year contract from Fenerbahçe and should an agreement be found, City would allow the defender to leave.
It follows claims from NTV Spor that the Turkish Super Lig side had made enquiries about Kyle Walker and wanted to know what personal terms he would be looking for, having emerged as their main right-back target this summer.
It remains to be seen what other clubs could emerge as possibilities for the player, who has long made his feelings known about preferring one last shot at appearing for his boyhood club Sheffield United at the tail-end of his playing career.
As for Manchester City, Hugo Viana and his recruitment colleagues are believed to be in the market for a new right-back signing this summer, but have placed talks with Newcastle over Tino Livramento on hold amid a difference in valuation on the Englishman.
Should Manchester City fail to bring in a new option in the position this summer, Pep Guardiola would be left to compete next season with Matheus Nunes and Rico Lewis as his preferred players for the role, with support from Manuel Akanji and Abdukodir Khusanov.
