There appears to be some respite on the injury front for Manchester City with Kyle Walker reportedly a 50/50 chance of playing against Arsenal on Sunday. The world champions are counting the cost of the international break with several key players returning with injury concerns. But, an update from SkySports indicates that the Manchester City captain could feature in Sunday’s match.

SkySports reported earlier today that Kyle Walker is set for a scan on the hamstring injury he picked up during England’s 1-nil defeat to Brazil last weekend. Manchester City will be hoping for positive news on their captain. Given Arsenal’s pace in wide positions, Walker could have a pivotal role to play on Sunday. Pep Guardiola will be hoping to have his captain available to counter this weapon of Arsenal. Furthermore, SkySports also reports that Walker is a 50/50 chance to play against Mikel Arteta’s side.

There are also several other injury concerns for the world champions heading into Sunday’s match. The biggest injury concern appears to be John Stones. He limped off early in England’s 2-all draw with Belgium overnight with an apparent abductor injury. Manuel Akanji and Matheus Nunes also picked up knocks and appear in doubt for Sunday’s massive fixture.

The champions will be hoping that their captain can play a role on Sunday. Given the magnitude of the match, Pep Guardiola will be hoping to call upon his captain for such a big occasion.
