Kroenkes consider acquiring clubs in Brazil, Belgium, & Portugal | OneFootball

Stan Kroenke has reportedly explored the possibility of acquiring another club, in part to develop their links to Arsenal.

The Guardian report that Stan Kroenke is understood to have explored the possibility of acquiring clubs in Brazil, Belgium, and Portugal. The club are believed to want to develop links with Brazil in particular.

Arsenal sources are currently playing down any reports of immediate plans to link up with another club, but it seems to be a potential option for the future.

Arsenal aren’t the only club with owners considering this possibility, with Todd Boehly and John W Henry of Chelsea and Liverpool also seemingly looking to follow in the footsteps of Manchester City owner City Football Group.

Boehly has already made one attempt to invest in Santos, but he was turned down. As with Kroenke, the Belgian and Portuguese clubs are seen as potentially lucrative alternatives to Brazilian teams for the Chelsea owner.

Kroenke already owns the Colorado Rapids in the MLS, but that hasn’t led to too many opportunities for Arsenal and the American club to do business together.

The one exception is Auston Trusty, who joined Arsenal from Colorado this summer. The centre-back seems to be doing well on loan at Birmingham City.

Perhaps the success of that move could help to push the Kroenkes to try and build more of a network in football.
