In a recent print edition, Corriere della Sera mentioned that Arsenal are set to rival Liverpool for Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman. It has been stated that the Gunners are showing interest in acquiring the services of the Nigerian talent this summer.

Lookman’s Impressive Run Of Form In Italian Football

Lookman enjoyed a decent run of form at the Italian club in the previous campaign after he put in a series of impressive displays for them in the final third. The 27-year-old banged in 20 goals and earned seven assists in 40 matches for Atalanta last season across various competitions.

The London-born sensation gave a good account of himself in the final third as he averaged 3.24 shots per 90 minutes in Serie A. He kept 39.5% of his attempts on target. However, Lookman needs to improve his ball distribution up top based on his pass completion rate of 72.5% in the Italian first division (stats via fbref.com).

His current deal at the Italian club will run out in the summer of 2027. Hence, Arsenal would have to make a convincing offer if they are serious about Lookman this off-season.

Should Arsenal Boss Mikel Arteta Get Lookman On Board?

Lookman can create a yard of space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He has got the vision to engineer a few inviting chances for his teammates in the final third.

The Nigerian talent is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet. He has proven his worth as a consistent goal-getter in Italian football. However, only time will tell whether Lookman will be able to maintain his good form in the Premier League if Arsenal manage to snap him up this off-season.

We can expect the Atalanta star to bring more firepower to Mikel Arteta‘s frontline. He has what it takes to fight for a regular first-team place at the Emirates Stadium next season.

At 27, Lookman is about to enter his prime which makes him a decent option for the Gunners to pursue in this transfer window. He might even help the North London club compete for some trophies over the next few years. All in all, Arteta would be wise to get Lookman on board this summer.
