Kortrijk have announced the signing of Sheyi Ojo on a season long loan. The former Liverpool winger joins the Kerels from Cardiff, the side that is also owned by Vincent Tan. Ojo was on the books at Liverpool until the summer of last year, when he joined the Welsh side for free. However, after just a year with the Blue Birds, he is set for a year trying to help Kortrijk avoid relegation. With his Cardiff contract expiring in 2024, this is a chance for Ojo to prove himself to future employers.
The former England U21 international made 13 appearances for Liverpool in his time on Merseyside, scoring one goal and providing four assists. Most of his time with the club was spent out on loan at a number of sides. Ojo has played for Fulham, Reims, Millwall, Wigan, Wolves and Rangers. This will be his first time in Belgium.
Kortrijk are currently winless in the league after three defeats in a row, including a 6-0 thrashing at the hands of Antwerp. Yesterday they announced the signing of Thierry Ambrose from Oostende.
