Ronald Koeman says he has already experienced his best family moment of 2025 after his son, Ronald Koeman junior, was promoted to the Eredivisie with Telstar on Sunday.

The White Lions beat Willem II in their double-headed play-off 3-5 on aggregate to take part in the top flight for the first time since 1978.

Although the national coach was meant to speak in a press conference about the upcoming international matches with Oranje, the first question of the afternoon was about the promotion of the club from Velsen-Zuid.

“What they have done is indescribable”, Koeman searched for words, “It’s great that that is still possible. I watched with a lot of adrenaline in my body, and also some tension. I didn’t think it was appropriate to go – it’s not about me, it’s about him”, he said , referring to his son.

“I’m proud of what they ultimately did – as a club, but also what he himself did. Fortunately, he now gets some recognition for what he worked so long and hard for. He deserves that.”
