Köln head coach Lukas Kwasniok effectively confirmed the imminent arrival of former German national team keeper Ron-Robert Zieler at a Monday press round. Kwasniok spoke of “reinforcements on the way” when a question about Zieler was posed.
Zieler was then indirectly referenced when Kwasniok emphasized that Marvin Schwäbe would remain the starting keeper for the newly promoted Bundesliga outfit. Schwäbe had been linked with a move to America’s MLS this summer, but the 30-year-old himself has denied his interest.
Germany’s cathedral city club have already confirmed one transaction today. The previously reported on loan out of Danish fullback Rasmus Carstensen was confirmed early Monday morning. Carstensen heads up north to play for Aarhus GF in his native Denmark. A purchase option, albeit of an undisclosed amount, is part of the arrangement.
“We were able to accommodate this request because we found a good solution for everyone involved with the loan to Aarhus,” Köln sporting director Thomas Kessler noted in a club statement. “We wish Rasmus all the best and every success for the coming season.”
