An official police statement read: “On December 23rd at 6:55, the Frenchman was traveling south on the Autobahn between Munich and Starnberg. Speed limit: 80 km/h.

“As the speed restriction ended, Coman may have given a little to much gas. The road was wet, and the car subsequently lost traction and began to spin.

“The car hit the safety barrier and slid along it, eventually coming to a stop 150 meters later in the middle lane of the highway.

“Coman was checked for injuries in an ambulance and then took a taxi home. Thankfully, the player was unhurt.”
