Arsenal have decided against exercising the option to extend Kieran Tierney’s contract meaning the 27-year-old will leave The Emirates. Tierney started this evening’s League Cup win over Crystal Palace but was substituted after going down.
As reported by The Athletic, Tierney will be available on a pre-contract in January but could also leave permanently next month.
Celtic sold Tierney to Arsenal in the summer of 2019 and has made 124 appearances for the Gunners. The fullback was recently pictured with Brendan Rodgers at a Celtic Foundation Event earlier this year.
Tierney made 170 appearances for Celtic between 2015 and 2019. During his time at the club, he scored 8 goals and provided 37 assists across all competitions. The player would represent a huge signing for Celtic given his quality and connection to the club. It remains to be seen whether KT would be up for making a move back to Scotland at this stage in his career.
Tierney was a key player in Celtic’s domestic success under Rodgers, helping them win multiple Scottish Premiership titles, Scottish Cups, and League Cups before departing to England.
