Every since Philippe Clement instructed the hacks to ‘dig in’ to what he reckons was an ‘injustice’ that’s exactly what they’ve done, and have left no stone unturned in their pursuit to make the Ibrox club look like the victim and smoke out Willie Collum and the Scottish FA who quickly raised a white flag.
It’s an incredible outcome just a matter of days after the controversy and it makes you wonder how nothing similar happened through the Honest Mistake era including of course a record breaking run of matches where theRangers never conceded a single penalty – their fans even sport Penalty to Rangers’ scarfs.
Do you reckon any other club would receive that much attention from our beloved media? Celtic after the Goldson handballs were ignored? Aberdeen after their penalty claim was ignored in last season’s League Cup Final? And the list is extensive.
No would be the right answer.
Just cast your mind back to last year’s League Cup final when Aberdeen were denied a stonewall penalty in the dying seconds, did we witness such a media outrage? No, of course not. You’d be lucky if there was even an article dedicated to it.
Has one single hack mentioned that in Willie Collim’s monthly VAR review Celtic have had to penalties denied that should have been given. Now apparently theRangers have one so it appears that these things happen, even with VAR.

Then there is of course ourselves, who are just told to get on with it and stop trying to look for ‘conspiracies’ despite being publicly wronged on so many occasions over the years. ‘That’s football’ they said. ‘It evens itself out’ they said. Like the time they said John Hartson was offside in a League Cup Final, a decision that resulted in Rangers lifting the trophy. Maybe that one has actually been evened out now – good things come to those who wait and the Celtic support has had to have the patience of a Saint in that one.
Well by my reckoning it’s still got a long way to go until it ‘evens itself out’ even if Sunday’s ‘incident’ is proven to be a mistake.

To think it’s reckoned that we ‘control the media narrative’ in this country. Well if the last few days have taught us anything, then that is certainly not the case.
The Scottish mainstream media will do anything for an Ibrox club while ignoring everyone else. The proof is there for all to see.
Incidentally another point worth mentioning on this. Many of theRangers supporters on their podcasts and on social media are calling for foreign referees to come into our game. That’s actually something many Celtic supporters would support. Common ground emerging for the best of enemies.
