Spanish goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga is grateful for the opportunity he is currently being given at Chelsea.
Kepa has fallen behind in the goalkeeping hierarchy in West London since the arrival of Édouard Mendy from Rennes, but with the Senegal international away at AFCON, the 27-year-old is seizing his opportunity.
“It’s true that I feel good, I think I’m in a good moment,” he told DAZN (via Football.London).
“[The] coach believes in me, from the beginning conveyed confidence in me, which for a goalkeeper is very important.
“I try to give it back to him in the best way, in every opportunity he gives me. Not to him, but to the team and to myself.”
Kepa’s future remains up in the air, but for now the former Athletic Club stopper seems to be focussing on performing for the Blues.
“What I have been looking for at all times is to give my best in the circumstance or in the position I was in at all times,” he said.
“Above all, to feel at peace with myself, to feel fulfilled and that I have done my best. That makes you feel at peace with yourself.”
Kepa has made 118 appearances since joining for a record £72m fee in 2018, and has kept 44 clean sheets during that period.
