Liam Rosenior has confirmed that Kendry Páez (17) is training at RC Strasbourg Alsace and will continue to do so until the end of the season.
Páez has been signed by Chelsea, however, upon the completion of the deal in 2023, reported to be worth €10m, it was decided that he would remain with his current club, Independiente del Valle, in Ecuador. The forward, who currently has 17 caps for the Ecuador national team, has now finally made the move to Europe.
Earlier this week, he was spotted in training with fellow BlueCo-owned side Strasbourg. Rosenior, speaking to the press on Thursday, addressed the Ecuadorian’s arrival at the French side. “He is there to gain experience and he will remain with us until the end of the season,” the Englishman confirmed ahead of Saturday’s match against OGC Nice. Of course, Páez will not be eligible to feature for Les Alsaciens between now and the end of the season.
However, is there a prospect of Páez staying at Strasbourg on loan from Chelsea next season? “There is no long-term plan regarding his arrival,” said Rosenior, who said that the topic will be discussed in the summer.
Rosenior has said that he is already impressed with the forward. “He has already shown good things in the three sessions that he has taken part in. He has integrated the squad well, and we feel as though he has been here for three years!” said the Strasbourg manager.
