Paris Saint-Germain officially parted ways with versatile defender Thilo Kehrer on Wednesday. West Ham United signed the German center-back for a reported £10.1 million transfer fee coupled with add-ons. On Kehrer’s part, he put pen to paper on a four-year contract deal with a two-year option with the Premier League side.

Overall, there were multiple crucial factors behind Kehrer’s call to leave PSG in favor of a move to West Ham. Among them, as he told the club’s official website, he had key talks with manager David Moyes about joining the side.

“Obviously, it’s a very big club, it’s the biggest league in the world which is very attractive and just in general the talks with the manager, all the positive messages that I got from all the fans and just all the love and all the excitement that I share as well,” Kehrer said.

Kehrer leaves PSG after having won seven trophies in all competitions. He now aspires to bring this winning mentality over to his upcoming run with the Premier League club.

“Obviously, that’s what I want. I mean, playing four years in PSG is creating a sort of winning mentality and also that’s what I want to bring here, of course, to win games as much as possible and that’s it,” Kehrer said.

Kehrer capped off his PSG run with 128 total appearances made in all competitions. While he never emerged as a regular starter at the club, he did provide the Ligue 1 powerhouse with versatility due to his ability to play as a center-back and full-back.
