Summer is shaping up to be an ambitious one in North London. Arsenal have made it clear that they do not want to fall short in the fight for the Premier League title. Mikel Arteta’s team understands that they must strengthen every line if they want to compete head-to-head with Manchester City and Liverpool.

The left wing has always been a key weapon, but Gabriel Martinelli’s wear and tear and inconsistency have set off some alarm bells. Fans are hoping for intelligent moves, not whimsical signings. The board knows that every new signing must raise the level immediately. That is why names with a future and a present are being mentioned.

Arsenal Can Offer Bradley Barcola A Regular Starting Role To Convince Him

According to Mick Brown in Football Insider, the Gunners are considering the possibility of making a move for Bradley Barcola in this transfer window. The 22-year-old Frenchman is shining at Paris Saint-Germain, but he is not yet an undisputed starter. Brown, former head of scouting at Man United and Blackburn, explained that the London club believes Barcola would fit well in a starting role that PSG cannot guarantee him.

Competition in Paris is fierce with Kvaratskhelia, Dembélé and Doue. Arsenal believe it could give him confidence and playing time. However, PSG have just won the Champions League and intend to retain him as a key part of its project. The options seem limited, but the idea is on the table.

Opinion:

We can’t help but wonder if Arsenal should be pushing so hard for Barcola, knowing how complicated it would be to negotiate with the Parisians. The Frenchman has dribbling skills, audacity and acceleration that break down defences, qualities that would fit in perfectly with Arteta’s attacking philosophy. However, replacing Martinelli is no small decision. The Brazilian, despite his inconsistency, has shown a connection with the full-backs and a willingness to sacrifice himself defensively.

Barcola, on the other hand, still has to prove that he can maintain his level in a league as physical as the English one. If he arrives, he would need to adapt quickly and have an environment that protects him when he is not in his best form. Furthermore, PSG will be reluctant to let him go. After winning the Champions League, their plan is to strengthen the squad, not dismantle it.

Arsenal need to weigh up whether it is worth wearing themselves out in an almost impossible operation. Even so, we understand the appeal. Imagining Barcola challenging Premier League full-backs, opening up space for Havertz or Saka, is tempting. His ability to take on defenders and hold up the ball would free up Ødegaard to receive between the lines.

The question is whether Arsenal have the room to manoeuvre to negotiate with a club backed by millions and unstoppable European ambition. The Gunners’ squad still has more pressing gaps to fill. While adding Barcola would strengthen the left wing, the question is whether displacing Martinelli would destabilise a dressing room that seems united. In my opinion, Arsenal would do well to keep a close eye on him, but without jeopardising other operations or diverting resources from priority signings. If PSG close ranks, it is necessary to move on and bet on a motivated Martinelli who knows that his place is not guaranteed. Internal competition also builds champions.
