Kaoru Mitoma commits future to Brighton

Kaoru Mitoma has signed a new long-term deal at Brighton and Hove Albion.
The 26-year-old has put pen to paper on a new contract which will keep him at the AMEX Stadium until 2027.
The Japanese international has been a revelation since arriving at the Seagulls in 2021, holding the record for the most goals scored by a Japanese player in a Premier League season (7) which he achieved in his debut camapign in 2022.
He has bagged a total of 13 goals and 12 assists in his 51 appearances for the club, helping them achieve Europa League qualification for the first time in their history last season.
“It’s great news. Kaoru is our top player” head coach Roberto De Zerbi said.
Mitoma earned his first cap for Japan in November 2021 and has gone on to win 18 caps, including in featuring in all four of their 2022 World Cup games.
