Brighton have received a boost over their plans for Kaoru Mitoma.

The Japan winger, on loan to Union St-Gilloise, went on as a half-time sub in the World Cup qualifier away to Oman - to make his debut.

He went past a defender and crossed for Genk's Junya Ito to turn in the only goal of the game as Japan went top of their group.

A first senior cap could help Albion in the process of securing a UK work permit for Mitoma.

With Belgian partners USG, Mitoma recently scored a hat-trick off the bench versus Seraing.
