Kalidou Koulibaly is confident that his ‘time will come’ under Graham Potter despite not playing since he took over as Chelsea manager.

Koulibaly joined Chelsea in a £34 million move from Napoli during Thomas Tuchel’s reign in the summer but is yet to get a single minute under Potter.

The 31-year-old has been left out of both Potter’s Champions League and Premier League debut but insists he is not concerned about how his time in England is going and remains confident in his abilities.

Speaking ahead of Chelsea’s Champions League clash with AC Milan tomorrow night (via Evening Standard), Koulibaly said: “Yes, it is true I haven’t played under the new manager. I am just easy – I know my time will come.

“We have a lot of games. I will give everything at training. I am a big worker. When I don’t play, I like to put all my energy into training and work.

“The pace is a little bit different than Italian football, but I am really happy to be here and part of the Premier League. It was my dream to play football here. I am here and really happy.”

Chelsea are in a precarious situation in the Champions League as they sit bottom of Group E, having failed to record a win in their opening two games.

They will host table toppers AC Milan at Stamford Bridge tomorrow night knowing that anything but a win will put their chances of qualifying for the knockout stage in doubt.

Speaking about the crunch tie, Koulibaly said the Blues have prepared everything to win tomorrow while reiterating he is ready to give 100% whenever he is called upon.

“The most important thing is Chelsea win the game tomorrow because Chelsea didn’t start the Champions League well with a loss and a draw,” he said.

“We have the opportunity to start this game well tomorrow, and I think we have prepared everything to win, and I think we will do it tomorrow. This is the most important thing.

“When I have the chance to play, I will give 100%, but I will be patient, focus on my training, and know I will play soon.”
