Juventus have expressed interest in signing Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Granit Xhaka this summer (h/t La Gazzetta dello Sport).

The Bianconeri are looking to bolster the midfield as Douglas Luiz has been heavily linked with a move away from Turin.

The Brazilian has been deemed surplus to requirements and has attracted interest from Manchester United, Everton, Fulham and Newcastle United.

AC Milan have been monitoring Xhaka in this transfer window as part of their squad overhaul, but their interest appears to have waned.

The Rossoneri have already signed Samuele Ricci from Torino, and Luka Modric is expected to be the next arrival. They are also focused on signing Club Brugge midfielder Aydon Jashari.

It leaves a clear path for Juventus to make a move for Xhaka, who is also eager for a new adventure at a top club.

The 32-year-old would not be a long-term option, but he can help Juventus raise the bar under manager Igor Tudor this season.

Xhaka would be an ideal fit in Tudor’s 3-4-2-1 system, having thrived in a similar set-up at Leverkusen.

The Swiss international has been a cornerstone of Leverkusen’s resurgence, winning the Bundesliga title in the 2023/24 season, followed by a runner-up finish.

Leverkusen will look to fend off the suitors for the former Arsenal star as they gear up for a new era under manager Erik ten Hag.

He has a €15 million price tag, which would be a steal for Juventus given his experience and potential.

Xhaka is renowned for excellent leadership qualities, which could be crucial for Tudor’s side when they compete for major trophies.

Juve are also looking for more attacking reinforcements after signing Jonathan David on a free transfer.

They are preparing a new offer to sign Francisco Conceicao permanently from FC Porto. Talks are continuing with Paris Saint-Germain to extend Randal Kolo Muani’s loan spell.
