Juventus are prepared to offer Douglas Luiz to Manchester United as part of a swap deal to sign Joshua Zirkzee.

Zirkzee is a transfer target for the Italian side heading into the summer transfer window. Juventus manager Thiago Motta is keen to reunite with Zirkzee, who he previously worked with at Bologna.

Last season, the Dutch forward scored 11 league goals to win the Serie A Young Player of the Year award under Motta’s management, as Bologna secured Champions League qualification.

However, he has struggled to make an impact in Manchester and has scored just five times in 36 appearances since his £36.5m move to Old Trafford last summer.

Ruben Amorim has appeared unconvinced by Zirkzee and fellow forward Rasmus Hojlund. He recently experimented with Kobbie Mainoo in an unfamiliar advanced role during the defeat to Crystal Palace.

According to Italian outlet Tuttosport, Juventus are prepared to offer ex-Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz to United as part of the deal. The Brazilian has endured a tough time in Turin since his £43m transfer to Serie A.

Luiz was linked with Manchester United, Manchester City and Nottingham Forest in the January transfer window and is understood to be open to a return to the Premier League.

United enquired into the availability of the 18-cap Brazil international in January, but a deal was deemed too expensive.

The 26-year-old made 175 Premier League appearances for Aston Villa, scoring 20 times, and was named the club’s Player of the Season in 2022/23. He could be an attractive option to Manchester United, with Casemiro and Christian Eriksen expected to depart at the end of the campaign.
