The transfer team at Juventus have initiated a fresh round of contacts with the representatives of Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Højbjerg.
That’s according to Daniele Longo of Calciomercato, who has this evening provided an update on the Dane’s situation at present.
It is of course common knowledge that Juventus are on the lookout for reinforcements in the middle of the park with a view to the 2nd half of the term, owing to the long-term bans handed down to both Paul Pogba and Nicolò Fagioli.
Højbjerg, meanwhile, has long been tipped as a leading target on the part of the Bianconeri. The 28-year-old has fallen down the engine room pecking order in north London, since the summer arrival of Ange Postecoglou on the bench.
Juve, in turn, are hopeful of bringing him in on loan, with an option to buy next summer.
And, as per the aforementioned Daniele Longo, the latest push on the part of Cristiano Giuntoli and his staff to land Højbjerg took place over the course of the last couple of days.
The Bianconeri are understood to have made direct contact with the agents of the former Southampton man, to discuss the prospect of a transfer next month. One major stumbling block remains Spurs’ stance, with the Lilywhites yet to open to a loan formula, viewing Højbjerg as an important squad player.
With Massimiliano Allegri having given his full backing to the move, though, Juve chief Giuntoli is ready to do whatever it takes to get his man.
