The powers that be at Juventus are inching towards a contract agreement with a long-time member of the club’s defensive ranks, according to reports.

The Bianconeri stopper set to be tied down? Daniele Rugani. The subject of Italian international Rugani’s future in Turin has come back to the fore in a major way over the course of the last couple of weeks. As per a report from TuttomercatoWeb, negotiations over a new contract for Rugani are now in full swing.

This comes amid widespread praise for the 29-year-old, who has taken full advantage of the injury suffered by captain Danilo to reestablish himself in Juventus’ backline. A steady and reliable presence, it has in turn been suggested that Rugani could be rewarded, by way of fresh terms at the Allianz Arena.

And, if the latest word doing the rounds in the media on Thursday is anything to go by, then precisely that appears to be on the agenda.

The talks in question are centered around a restructuring of the stopper’s wages, which would be reduced from their current €3.5 million-per-year, to a more reasonable €2.5 million, through the summer of 2026.

The ‘common objective’ for all parties is now to reach a definitive agreement before the end of the year.
