Considering the makeup of the defense, and the fact that Gleison Bremer will return eventually, a lefty would be a strong fit. Given their ongoing issues, it’d be recommendable to add somebody with strong leadership skills rather than a youngster, albeit talented. If they are sure they’ll get him down the line, it could change their January plans. They might go for a band-aid to get through the season rather than orchestrating a different purchase.
