Jurgen Klopp confirms Divock Origi is leaving Liverpool | OneFootball

Jurgen Klopp has provided an update on Divock Origi's future amid rumours that he is close to signing for AC Milan.

Speaking in his pre-Wolves press conference, as cited by Anfield Watch on Twitter, the Reds boss confirmed that the forward will be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season.

"I expect Div to get a special reception on Sunday. He is one of the most important players I ever had. He was and is a pure joy to work with," said Klopp.

"It's not over yet but he deserves all good thoughts we can generate for his future. He'll be a success. He is outstanding.

"For me he will always be a Liverpool legend. Everybody loves him. He is a Liverpool legend for sure.

"I expect Div to get a special farewell. He will forever be a Liverpool legend. It's been a pure joy to work with him. Wherever he goes, he will be successful. Everyone loves him."

Anfield Watch Verdict

Yesterday, Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Origi was 'poised' to join Italian giants AC Milan next summer.

Romano also claimed that the forward has already agreed on the move and is waiting to undergo his medical/sign the contract with the Serie A side.

Mirror Football, as cited by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, also revealed that the Belgian will be getting a pay rise once he leaves Anfield.

AC Milan have offered Origi an annual salary of €4 million (£3.4 million), which equates to £65,500 per week, higher than the £60,000 per week he currently earns at Liverpool.

It's sad to see Origi leave as he has been such a cult-hero during Klopp's spell at the club.

However, we will always have the amazing memories he has given us fans during his time at Liverpool. From all of his goals against Everton to his clutch moments in the Champions League, we'll remember them all fondly.

Hopefully we can win two more trophies for Origi and give him the send-off he deserves.
