Julian Nagelsmann Commits Future To Germany Amid Manchester United Interest | OneFootball

Julian Nagelsmann has committed his future to the German National Team by signing a new deal with the nation, meaning he is now out of the running for the Manchester United job should Erik ten Hag be removed from his post. Nagelsmann had been linked to both Manchester United and Bayern Munich, but will now stay at Germany beyond EURO 2024, and potentially lead them into the World Cup in 2026.

Bayern had been in talks with Nagelsmann in recent weeks, but they have not done enough to convince their former head coach to leave his post in Germany. The 34-year-old has stated the decision is one that comes from his heart, and cited the two victories over France and the Netherlands as something that inspired him to remain beyond the EURO’s.

Nagelsmann Remains At Germany:

Nagelsmann was never the true front runner for the United job, so it will not be seen as a huge blow internally at Old Trafford. Bayern Munich will feel the decision more, as they had true intentions of bringing him back in with the departure of Thomas Tuchel set to come in the summer.

Roberto De Zerbi and Graham Potter are set to be two managers United admire internally, but they have not made a final decision on Erik ten Hag as of yet, and there is no sacking imminent with an FA Cup semi-final on the horizon this Sunday.

Ten Hag remains buoyant over his future and maintains the belief that he is involved in the plans for next season in discussions with INEOS. Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his team are closing in on the appointment of Jason Wilcox from Southampton, but a deal for Dan Ashworth is still a bit further away at this juncture.
