Julian Brandt criticises 'absolutely harmless' performance

Julian Brandt believes Borussia Dortmund “didn’t deserve” to progress to the DFB-Pokal semi-final.
Defending holders RB Leipzig reached the competition’s last four with a 2-0 win over their Bundesliga counterparts on Wednesday night.
And Brandt insists that Edin Terzić’s side can have no complaints about the manner of their quarter-final exit at the Red Bull Arena.
“We didn’t deserve to win the match. We were absolutely harmless offensively and too open defensively,” insisted Brandt.
“In the first half in particular, we did not manage to keep hold of the ball. That played into Leipzig’s hands.
“We already showed in the first half of the season that we capitulate when we’re not focused. We were actually extremely lucky that we got through the first 10 minutes without conceding a goal.”
Dortmund will aim to bounce back in Saturday’s Bundesliga counter with Union Berlin, having fallen two points behind Bayern Munich in the title race with last weekend’s Der Klassiker defeat.
