Jules Kounde left out of Sevilla’s preseason group as Chelsea transfer grows close

Jules Kounde has not travelled to Sevilla’s training camp in Portugal, with a transfer to Chelsea seemingly close.

After a summer of bids and counter bids last summer, the defender ended up staying put in Andalusia for another season. Chelsea’s moves for other defenders in the last few weeks have made it seem dangerously like he might not get his dream move after all, but since concluding the deal for Kalidou Koulibaly the Blues have turned their eyes back to Kounde, and appear to be close to a deal now.

Fabrizio Romano has just confirmed that Kounde will not be in the travelling party as Julen Lopetegui’s group prepare for a new campaign in La Liga.

We’ve already heard talk of a transfer fee being close to agreement, and personal terms shouldn’t be an issue. We expect this one to be wrapped up within a week, meaning Kounde can still join Chelsea in the USA.
