Although PSG struggled to break through the Angers defence, a pair of late goals from Danilo Pereira and Kylian Mbappé gave the home side a 2-1 come-from-behind win.

Mbappé’s 87th-minute penalty sent PSG nine points clear at the top of the Ligue 1 title and Mauricio Pochettino was quite happy with his team’s efforts.

“Overall I think we deserved to win because I think we were better than Angers. They’re a very good team and fourth in the league,” Pochettino explained in his post-match press conference.

“Yes I’m happy, the three points are really really important to prepare the game against Leipzig.

“I think we dominated the game, 74/75% possession, we created more chances and we conceded from one transition.

“In the end, that’s football, you can dominate create the chances but not score. Overall I think we were better.”

Juan Bernat returned to football for the first time in 13 months following his recovery from a devastating ACL injury and he was very thankful for his 27-minute cameo.

“Thank you very much. I won’t forget this day anytime soon,” Bernat said after the match.

“After a year and a month out, I struggled a lot and had to work very hard to finally get to the other side of it.

“I played a few minutes today and I’m so happy to be able to play in front of our fans. The way they welcomed me when I came on was incredible.

“Thank you so much to everyone. Now I hope I can move forward and just enjoy playing football because that’s what I like doing most.

“It was a really tough game. Angers caused us a lot of issues, they played very deep and it was hard to find space.

“But we were able to to find the gaps in the second half and get the result and three points we wanted. We never stopped attacking and we managed to get the victory.”

PSG will now rest up and start preparing for their Champions League home clash with RB Leipzig.
