One journalist has come out and said that there is one current Chelsea player who should be starting ahead of Jude Bellingham right now in his England position.
I mean, there aren’t going to be any Chelsea fans who will debate this, but I am sure that perhaps one or two England fans might have something to say about it. But really, he has a real point here.
Ian Ladyman of The Daily Mail has made the claim in his latest article looking ahead to our next pending international break next week.
The journalist believes that Lee Carsley needs to make a big call this international break, and that big call is starting Cole Palmer in the 10 role for England ahead of Bellingham.
Palmer will look to continue incredible form with England
Ladyman wrote:
“I would like to see him play at No10, just behind Kane. Get your best player on the ball as often as possible. At the moment, that player is Palmer.
“No 10 is Bellingham’s position, of course, and the Real Madrid superstar is the England squad’s alpha male.
“Asking him to move or to be a ‘finisher’ from the substitutes’ bench would be an interesting call from Carsley. These are the decisions that international managers are tasked with making, though.”
Bellingham is capable of playing deeper than Palmer, but that would be another big call to get them both in the same team. Palmer of course can also play wide on the right, but there is competition there too.
Whatever happens, Palmer needs to start for England going forward.
