Tottenham director Fabio Paratici unlikely to sign Lorenzo Insigne claims journalist

According to Italian journalist Ciro Venerato (h/t Football.london), Tottenham Hotspur are unlikely to sign Napoli captain and Italy forward Lorenzo Insigne this summer transfer window.

Insigne has grown into one of the most reliable forwards in Serie A over the years. The 30-year-old has racked up near 400 appearances for Napoli so far, scoring 109 goals and setting up 85 more. (h/t Transfermarkt)

Insigne, though, is entering the final year of his contract with the Serie A giants, leading to speculations over his future. Tottenham, ever since the appointment of Fabio Paratici as the new managing director of football, have been getting linked with players based in the Serie A quite heavily. And it has been the same case with Insigne as well. (h/t Football.london)

However, Venerato, while speaking on Kiss Kiss Napoli (via Area Napoli h/t Football.london) has claimed that he spoke to the Tottenham director on Thursday and was able to learn that Paratici does not intend to sign Insigne at Tottenham this summer.

“Thirty minutes ago, I had an exchange of messages with Fabio Paratici, now director of Tottenham. He told me that Insigne will not land in the Premier League.”

Insigne has grown into one of the most potent wide players in Europe and has been quite impressive for the Italian national team at the ongoing UEFA Euro 2020 as well. However, a move for the 30-year-old from Tottenham is unlikely to happen if Venerato’s statements are to go by.

While a move for Insigne may not be on the table, Tottenham do need to bring in a winger this summer. With Gareth Bale’s loan spell coming to an end and the likes of Erik Lamela and Steven Bergwijn underperforming, the club cannot rely only on Harry Kane and Son Heung-min in the final third.
