AC Milan fans should not expect any significant moves during the January transfer window, according to the journalist Luca Serafini.

Milan continue to be linked with a number of different transfer targets such as Houssem Aouar for the midfield, Hakim Ziyech for the right wing and Noah Okafor for the attacking department, but the Rossoneri have not been big spenders in the winter window under Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara.

Serafini spoke during an interview with MilanNews and he was asked if he is expecting anything to happen once the transfer window reopens after the World Cup break, with the journalist predicting a quiet month.

“No. I don’t expect much because this is notoriously the case in January. I remember last year that if a defender didn’t arrive we were going to drop into Serie B, but then instead we saw how it went,” he said.

Instead of going out and spending on new recruits, it is more likely that Stefano Pioli will continue to try and get more out of the players who arrived last summer and need some time to adapt to a new environment.

“The squad is large and young, everyone keeps talking to me about these new signings, but the new signings are four 19-20-21 year olds,” Serafini added.

“It’s not like they can change the team’s fortunes immediately, they have to gradually enter and become reliable, give continuity, understand what to do. We will come to have help from them too, but this cannot be expected to happen immediately.”
