Bayern Munich are aiming to maintain their hundred percent winning record in the UEFA Champions League as they take on Barcelona on Wednesday. The Bavarians have their top spot secured in Group E, with five wins in five matches. Another victory at the Allianz Arena could help get to 18 points while most likely knocking Barcelona out of the group.

Defence

Julian Nagelsmann was gifted with the return of a few star players on the weekend, including Niklas Sule. The German international remains a favourite to start this game, most likely at the expense of Benjamin Pavard.

Other changes in the Bayern defence should see Lucas Hernandez being rested after picking up a knock against Dortmund. He is set to be replaced by Tanguy Nianzou, with the Frenchman hoping to form the heart of the four-man backline alongside fellow compatriot Dayot Upamecano.

Alphonso Davies, though, should retain his place in the side as his pace could be extremely useful in both offence and defence for the home side. He will complete the back-four that will look to cover Manuel Neuer in between the sticks.

Midfield

Bayern will be boosted by the return of Joshua Kimmich this midweek. However, it remains unlikely that the German international will start this game, as Nagelsmann looks to persist with Corentin Tolisso in the middle of the park.

There could be a rare start for Jamal Musiala as well. Nagelsmann had confirmed that he has tested the youngster in a withdrawn role and with Marcel Sabitzer out injured, this could be his opportunity to make an impression in central midfield, alongside Tolisso. Leon Goretzka, Kimmich and Marc Roca are the other options, should Nagelsmann look to strengthen his midfield.

Attack

Meanwhile, in the offensive unit, the Bayern Munich forward line will be spearheaded by none other than Robert Lewandowski. The Pole is hoping for more supply from the creative trifecta, including Thomas Muller after a lucky win over Dortmund.

It remains to be seen whether Nagelsmann opts to make any changes in the wider offensive role. But with Serge Gnabry still not yet fully fit, we are expecting Kingsley Coman and Leroy Sane to continue in the final third.
