Josh Brownhill has issued a message to Burnley supporters after his match-winning goal against Norwich City on Sunday.

The Canaries took the lead in the second minute through José Córdoba, but goals in the second half from Zian Flemming and Brownhill secured all three points.

Scott Parker’s side are now unbeaten in their last eight league games as we approach the halfway mark in the campaign.

The 28-year-old’s 76th minute strike was his seventh of the campaign, meaning he is the top scorer in the Clarets’ squad so far this season.

Brownhill has issued a message to Burnley supporters following the win over Norwich.

The midfielder has praised the team’s second half performance, with the team chasing promotion to the Premier League this season.

Brownhill bagged his seventh goal of the campaign with the match-winning goal at Carrow Road.

Goals have proven a bit of an issue for Parker’s side so far this campaign, with the team bagging just 26 from 21 games compared to Leeds United’s 37 or Sunderland’s 32.

However, the club captain has proven a key contributor in the final third, scoring five more than the next most in the squad.

Burnley league position

Burnley moved back up to third place in the Championship table on Sunday afternoon, closing the gap to second place Leeds to just one point.

Leaders Sheffield United are a further three points ahead, while Sunderland are in fourth, one point adrift.

Burnley are now unbeaten in their last eight matches, which includes winning five and drawing the other three.

Next up for the Clarets is a home clash against seventh place Watford on 21 December in a 3pm kick-off at Turf Moor.

Brownhill’s importance to Burnley increasingly clear

The situation surrounding Brownhill’s future is becoming harder and harder to ignore with these recent performances.

The midfielder is out of contract at the end of the season, and could walk away from the club for nothing unless a new deal can be sorted out.

His goal-scoring form this season has really highlighted how important he is to the squad, and just how crucial is that they avoid a summer departure as a free agent.
