Chivas de Guadalajara are facing a busy period with key games that could make or break the rojiblanco season.
First, Chivas will clash with the Gallos Blancos of Querétaro on matchday 10 of Liga MX. After that match, the Sacred Flock have two Clásico Nacional encounters with Club América, in the cup and then in the league.
José Van Rankin spoke to media about the importance of the teams upcoming matches and the team’s faith in their manager.
“We know it will be a very important week for the team to get up and resume the path of triumph, we want to go to Querétaro to win and then the two Clásicos come, we are working hard to make it very positive”.
Speaking at a press conference from the club’s facility at Verde Valle, he assured all that José Saturnino Cardozo had the backing of his players.
“For us the important thing is to get the results, to win. Of course the coach is supported by all of us.”
Back-to-back losses in the league at the hands of Monterrey and Pachuca stirred criticism of Guadalajara’s 47-year-old tactician but Van Rankin cast away any doubt.
“We are very focused on this week to go win away and keep our spot in the Liguilla places, and also win the Clásicos, in the cup and at home in the league,” the former Pumas defender said.
“What we have seen from Queretaro is that it is an organised team, which breaks down well and at the same time quickly launches their attack; we must be careful with that, keep our shape and do what we have to given the position of the ball,” Van Rankin warned.
