Borussia Mönchengladbach have announced that goalkeeper Jonas Omlin will miss the foreseeable future for the club as he suffered a tendon injury in training.

Treatment on the Swiss goalies injury has already begun but the severity of it has yet to be revealed. Omlin’s replacement will likely be Mortiz Nicolas who was his understudy last season as well. Omlin was in goal for all of Gladbach‘s opening games of the season.

Since moving to Borussia Park in January 2023, Omlin has had five different injuries which has caused him to miss 39 games for club and country, compare that to counterpart and predecessor Yann Sommer who was very reliable when it came to his fitness.

Gladbach’s number two, Nicolas, was in a similar situation last season as he featured 30 times for Die Fohlen in the DFB Pokal and Bundesliga due to Omlin’s injuries. The 26 year old was reportedly unhappy that he was unable to leave Gladbach in the summer as he wanted first team opportunities after his performances last season, but that opportunity has now came around once again.
