Despite reports that there was already a deal in place for John van ‘t Schip to leave Greece to return to Chivas, it seems that the 57-year-old will not be coming back to Guadalajara.

Van ‘t Schip was at the helm of the Flock in 2012, where he achieved a record of eight wins, six draws and nine losses in 23 games.

“At this moment I have a contract with the national team and we are undergoing reconstruction.

“It is true that my contract ends but until then I will be here and I hope I can stay longer, but it does not depend solely on me.

“Chivas is a team that I led a few years ago, they are looking for a technician and my name has come up.

“I am aware, but I cannot comment on whether it is true or not. They are rumours.”

His current deal runs out at the end of March 2022 so it appears that he has ruled himself out of the running.
