John O’Shea has announced his plans to retire from football at the end of the season.

The defender, who turns 38 on Tuesday, is currently playing in the Championship with Reading.

A product of the Manchester United academy, O’Shea played 393 times for the Premier League giants, winning the league title five times during his decade in the first team.

O’Shea left United for Sunderland in 2011 and spent seven seasons with the club before signing for Reading last summer.

The 38-year-old is also an Ireland legend, making 118 appearances for his country during a 17-year international career.
