After over a week of non-stop speculations, FC Barcelona have finally closed the deal to sign Joan Garcia from RCD Espanyol, reports journalist Alex Pintanel.

The 24-year-old shot-stopper is set to become a Blaugrana player imminently, having reached an agreement over personal terms.

Reports on Monday suggested that the La Liga champions had already finalised an agreement in principle with Garcia over a five-year deal until 2030.

With everything seemingly in order, the only thing left is for Barcelona to deposit his €25 million release clause amount to secure his signing, which could be done soon.

One of the best goalkeepers in La Liga this past season, Garcia’s arrival will be a huge boost for Barcelona.

However, what it means for the future of captain Marc-Andre ter Stegen remains to be seen.

After all, the new signing is expected to take up the No. 1 mantle at Barça next season and with Wojciech Szczesny set to renew his contract as well, Hansi Flick will have some major decisions to make.

Ter Stegen, for his part, has shown no indication that he is considering an exit from Barcelona and the club do not wish to force his departure.

For now, though, Barcelona are all set to complete their first signing of the summer in the form of Joan Garcia.
