Chivas defender Jesús Sánchez has spent his entire career at Chivas and, despite being 30 years old, has no intention to leave the club anytime soon.
Sánchez, who is under contract until summer 2022, has featured 244 times for Chivas and has won five trophies since making his professional debut in 2010 (one Liga MX, two Copa MX, one Supercopa MX, one CONCACAF Champions League).
While filling in for manager Luis Fernando Tena at Tuesday’s press conference, Sánchez compared his mentality to another one-club man’s: Lionel Messi.
“I still need to win titles here. There is nothing better than being at Chivas,” Sánchez said.
“A player must be ambitious wherever he is and at Chivas, I have tried to win things. There is still a long way to go and I hope I can do it.
“I do not like talking about cycles. Messi at Barcelona, sorry for the comparison, but I have never heard him say that his cycle ends when he has already won what he had to win.
“The player with that mentality is more productive, so I try to keep myself well to continue winning things and to continue enjoying being here.”
Chivas will hope to secure victory for the second-straight game this weekend when they play host to Club León.
