Sporting director Christoph Freund says:
We are pleased that Jerome has found a new club very soon and is able to continue playing at a high level. He has been an important part of our team over the years and has always been very reliable. You saw that in the Champions League group stage this season, when he was selected rather unexpectedly and put in some great performances. We hope that he can pick up two more honours with us before he moves to the German Bundesliga, and we wish him all the very best for his future.
Jerome Onguene says on his forthcoming move:
In a few weeks, an exciting and successful time in my career is to come to an end. Even if I didn't play as much as I would have liked, I have learnt so much at FC Red Bull Salzburg as a footballer and a person - and I am very grateful for that. My time here is not over yet, however, and I want to win two more honours with the team. My entire concentration and focus is now on that.
