Speaking to Kicker, Bayer Leverkusen defender Jeremie Frimpong has not ruled out extending his current contract at the club.

When asked about a possible extension to his contract which expires in 2025, Frimpong said: “I enjoy being on the pitch with these guys every day. We have a great team that makes it a lot of fun. Of course, I can imagine playing with them for a long time.”

Frimpong was linked with a move away from Leverkusen this summer but ultimately stayed at the club, whether that is because no club made an offer for the right-back or he wanted to continue to play under Xabi Alonso is currently unknown.

However, Leverkusen defender Edmond Tapsoba recently extended his contract at the club and this could start a domino effect that causes other key players such as Frimpong to also extend their contracts at the club as the players are so behind the project that Alonso is building at Leverkusen.

In the opening games of this season, Frimpong has picked up where he left off last season as in three games he has one goal and three assists as Leverkusen sits top of the Bundesliga going into the international break.
