Ajax have confirmed the signing of goalkeeper Jay Gorter after agreeing an undisclosed fee with Go Ahead Eagles.

The 21-year-old was at the Ajax academy for four years in his youth, before spending time at Amsterdamsche FC and AZ Alkmaar.

He joined Eagles in 2018, finally establishing himself as first choice at the second-tier outfit last season.

Gorter conceded just 23 goals in 37 league appearances as he helped them win promotion to the Eredivisie.

His consistency also saw him land the Golden Shield award for being the best stopper in the Eerste Divisie.

The Purmerend native has signed a four-year deal at Johan Cruyff Arena.
