According to the Daily Mail, Jannik Vestergaard has been told to stay away from the Leicester first-team squad following an interview in which he was critical of Foxes manager Brendan Rodgers.
The 30-year-old is said to be training alone away from his colleagues on a separate pitch with a fitness coach whilst his teammates prepare to face Chelsea on Saturday.
In an interview with Danish newspaper EkstraBladet, Vestergaard said it was ‘strange’ that he had not played a single minute in the Premier League this season.
The centre-back has made three first-team appearances this season with the Denmark international featuring twice in the Carabao Cup (EFL Cup) and once in the FA Cup.
“It was an unauthorised interview. I had to check I hadn’t been talking to his twin brother, because I had been very clear.
Communication has always been there so I was surprised.”
“When he’s out on the pitch, he’s declaring himself fit. Players are always managing something. I thought he was outstanding against Southampton. So he’s still available to play.”
The East Midlands side suffered two damning defeats last week after Blackburn Rovers knocked them out of the FA Cup on Tuesday before Southampton narrowly clenched a 1-0 victory over the Foxes on Saturday evening.
