Jamie O’Hara has given his verdict on Anthony Elanga moving to Newcastle United from Nottingham Forest.
With his medical now completed, Newcastle fans now just waiting for the formal official confirmation that the Sweden international has completed his move.
Newcastle United having agreed a guaranteed £52m transfer fee, plus £3m in potential future add-ons.
Jamie O’Hara declares it is a step up for Anthony Elanga, moving to Newcastle United, claiming Forest have peaked.
Not so sure about that, they still have a lot of very decent players and much will depend on how they spend the Anthony Elanga cash and other money in the transfer window.
The Talksport presenter and former Blackpool and Billericay Town player also suggests that Anthony Elanga is set to become the latest in a long line of players that Eddie Howe has further improved.
I am not going to be arguing with Jamie O’Hara on that point.
Anthony Elanga looks to have a lot of quality and of course pace to burn, whilst his direct goal involvement stats are outstanding in the Premier League, especially with assists.
Jamie O’Hara speaking to Grosvenor Sport about Anthony Elanga moving from Nottingham Forest to Newcastle United:
“Anthony Elanga had a great season at Nottingham Forest, but Newcastle United is a step up.
“Have Forest peaked in terms achieving their highest possible league position? I’d say so.
“You can argue that £55 million is an inflated valuation, but Anthony Gordon cost £40 million and is now starting for England. Fans were going ballistic at the time, thinking Newcastle massively overpaid for Gordon, but those doubts have since disappeared.
“Eddie Howe is adding to his portfolio of players that he’s improved and Elanga could be the next in line.
“Howe obviously thinks he can make Elanga a better player, so based on that, he’s probably worth £55 million, especially considering he’s a young player and with a long career ahead of him.”
