Reece James has had a torrid time with injury in recent years, but his former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel picked him in his first England squad and has been rewarded tonight with a stunning free kick.
The Three Lions had struggled to break down the dogged Latvians from open play, but they could do nothing to stop the 25-year-old's effort from just outside the box.
It was his first goal for his country on his 18th cap, and on his first start since a Nations League draw with Germany way back in September 2022.
James absolutely thrived under the German manager at club level, and he's made a pretty good start at international level.
If he can stay fit, he is sure to add more starts and goals in the coming years.
