Tottenham Hotspur have increased their bid for Manchester City winger Savinho to around €80 million, as the club look set to miss out on Eberechi Eze.
Spurs had been locked in negotiations with Crystal Palace over a £60m deal for Eze, but the midfielder now looks set to join Arsenal after a late approach from the club’s North London rivals.
The decision has ramped up efforts from Tottenham to sign Savinho. Spurs saw an opening bid of around €50m rejected for the Brazil international earlier in the window. However. Brazilian outlet Globo are reporting a club-record bid is now set to be proposed.
Thomas Frank’s side are prepared to pay around €80m (£69.2m) for the 21-year-old, a deal that would eclipse the current highest transfer fee in Tottenham history, set when Dominic Solanke completed his £65m move to North London last summer.
Savinho is understood to be open to the move as he seeks a regular role. The winger made 21 league starts for Pep Guardiola’s side last season, scoring once and providing eight assists.
Spurs are desperate to improve their creativity with James Maddison set to miss the bulk of the campaign with an ACL injury.
