Bayern Munich rising star Jamal Musiala has been catching the eye with his performances this season, earning him comparisons to Thomas Müller.
In an interview with Sport Bild the 18-year-old, although flattered, dismissed any talk of being on the same level as Müller – who currently has 16 assists in 20 Bundesliga appearances this season.
“I’ve never played with someone like him before,” Musiala told Sport Bild.
“Thomas is an outstanding footballer and a guy that doesn’t exist a second time. Nobody else in professional football is like Thomas.”
Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann has been using the teenager in a variety of different positions across the midfield, helping him improve his overall game.
However, the young German admitted that he could never play Müller’s role in the same way as the German legend.
“Thomas will certainly play for many years to come. After that, his style and his role will be irreplaceable,” he said.
“If I’m allowed to play in his position, I’ll bring in a new style of my own.”
Musiala is the second-youngest player to feature for the Bavarians in the Bundesliga, with Paul Wanner holding the record after his first appearance earlier this year.
