A season that started in disgrace for Jadon Sancho could end in Champions League glory and a place in the England squad for Euro 2024.

Dortmund are 21/10 to reach the final of Europe's premier club competition after beating Paris Saint-Germain 1-0 in their semi-final first leg in Germany last night.

The odds on Sancho, who was one of Dortmund's star performers on the night, making Gareth Southgate's group of 26 for this summer's tournament have shortened to 11/26.50, having been 20/121.00 at the start of the day.

Sancho to have last laugh over Ten Hag?

Sancho was exiled by Erik ten Hag for comments the winger made on social media about the Manchester United manager and subsequently loaned to Dortmund - the club the Red Devils signed him from - in January.

He was asked last night if he wanted to return to United and said he was thinking only of Dortmund's current campaign.

United are seventh in the Premier League with four games to play and Ten Hag is under pressure. The dour Dutchman's chances of keeping his job this summer may depend on whether United can win the FA Cup final against Manchester City on 25 May

Meanwhile, Sancho has bigger targets in mind as he rediscovers his form and plays with a smile in a Dortmund side that are 7/18.00 to win the Champions League.

He played for the Germans from 2017 to 2021 and performed well for England at Euro 2020 before missing a penalty in the shootout in the final.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer brought him to Old Trafford the same summer and the Englishman would have been United's marquee signing but for the transfer deadline day arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo.

Since then Sancho showed only flashes of the brilliance that made him one of European football's hottest young properties in his four years at Dortmund.

He thrives at the club and, if he can help Dortmund get past PSG in a tough second leg in the French capital, it will be interesting to see if Southgate decides he could do a job for England in Germany this summer.

Sancho was cut to 9/110.00 overnight, but some more activity on Thursday saw his price shorten even further.
