Ivan Perisic did not travel with Inter ahead of tonight’s preseason friendly with Valencia as speculation intensifies over his future, as reported by Sport Mediaset.

Antonio Conte’s side will play their final fixture of the summer at the Mestalla Stadium before their Serie A debut against Lecce on 26 August.

Perisic is heavily linked with a loan move to Bayern Munich and will not be part of the match-day squad in Spain.

The news would appear to suggest the Croatian is very close to securing an Inter exit, having been placed on the transfer market recently.

Perisic scored nine goals for Inter last season but Conte’s decision to play with 3-5-2 system this year means he is surplus to requirements.

Conte wanted to convert him into a wing-back but that experiment did not last long, nor did Perisic convince as a second striker.

Reports on Friday suggested Bayern had offered a loan deal with an option to buy for €30 million, having missed out on Manchester City’s Leroy Sane.

Perisic is thought to still be reflecting on his future but his absence from tonight’s match indicates he is nearing a departure.
