Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (24) had long been in the sights of Paris Saint-Germain before he eventually signed from Napoli in the January transfer window for a fee of €70 million plus add-ons.
It was a transfer that PSG had hoped to complete over the summer when they reportedly agreed personal terms with Kvaratskhelia, but were met with resistance from the Neapolitans, who, under new manager Antonio Conte, envisioned another Scudetto challenge with the Georgian winger.
However, Napoli changed tact ahead of the winter transfer window, and a deal for the winger who was meant to replace Kylian Mbappé (26) became feasible for Les Parisiens. And his arrival has coincided with the club’s charge towards a second Champions League final.
Speaking to CBS Sports after the Champions League semi-final victory over Arsenal, Kvaratskhelia expressed his joy at the success he’s found in the French capital. “It feels great. It’s been [moving] so quickly, everything. I’m already in the Champions League final, it’s like dreaming. I think this is about the hard work, the trust, the process, and I’m really happy that I’m here with these boys and this club. I feel very good here.”
On the 31st of May, PSG will take the field to play Internazionale in Munich.
